U9s vs Narberth
Despite the bitterly cold wind it was a nice change of venue this morning.
Saints took a while getting to grips with a very well drilled Narberth team in the first 10 minutes, that being said they stuck at it and a fantastic run came from Zaki who charged through like a bullet from St David's try line to score our only try in that 10.
Everyone was a lot more settled in the next 10 and far better play came from the Saints, some good ground gaining runs from Henry, Seb, Kian and Bear. Logan, and Kian also putting in some impressive tackle to keep a fast Narberth team away from the try line. Some fab passing in this 10, a pass from Delun to Bear who ran and passed out to Oliver who gained ground to pass back to Bear for Bear to Score a try.
A quick change of ends and ready to go again. Oliver commanding the team and getting them in position, Delun patient and deliberate with all of her passes today, was good to see her using the time to get the perfect pass in. Ollie stepped back into his fullback position this week and boy did he do well: ground gaining runs and some vital tackles made when we needed. Logan showed his power and his speed to get from the half way line, through 5 Narberth players to score a lovely try. Oliver, Bear and Henry had some good driving tackles in this quarter, Oscar also got some good tackles in and wasn't afraid to jump on a loose ball. Seb's snake hips came into play and he got his try he so desperately deserved. Tired Saints stepped out for 1 more go and fairplay they gave it their all. Oliver gaining vital ground with a nice little dummy to see off 3 players, Kian having a fabulous run down the wing (which worries me with his giant feet 😂) Bear taking some big hits but always gets up and straight back in, Delun was at every breakdown with speed and determination, Zaki another fantastic run through, Logan getting his tackles in, Seb, Henry and Oscar gaining ground and Ollie kept his position perfectly and was always ready for any breakout runs. However Narberth’s fast passing down the line was executed perfectly and just proved too much for the Saints today. That being said these kids haven't had any training or games for 2 weeks so to come and play like they did was amazing, Well done e U9s 🟡⚫
