We want to enable players of today and the future, to have all the facilities and support that they need to discover their potential, both on and off the field.
We aim to:
- Foster a sense of inclusivity and community engagement with regular rugby and local events that welcome players of all ages and skill levels, ensuring that the rugby club becomes a hub for sports enthusiasts within the community
- Establish partnerships with local schools and community organisations to promote youth involvement in rugby, to encourage diverse participation and create a pathway for talented youngsters to thrive in the sport
- Emphasise the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork, integrating character-building activities into training sessions to instill core values that extend beyond the rugby field, creating well-rounded individuals who contribute positively to the community
- Implement outreach programs that involve the rugby club in local charitable initiatives, using the sport as a catalyst for social responsibility and community development, thereby strengthening the bond between the club and the people it serves
- Regularly host family-friendly events and matchday experiences, transforming the rugby club into a social gathering place where community members can connect, celebrate, and build lasting relationships, fostering a supportive environment that goes beyond the game itself
FLOODLIGHT APPEAL
St. David's Rugby Club has been an essential part of the community for many years, providing a place for people to come together and enjoy the sport of rugby. However, due to the pitch training lights coming to the end of their life and failing, training and matches are often limited to daylight hours, severely restricting the amount of time that the club can operate.
By installing new LED pitch lights, we can extend training and match times, ensuring that everyone in the community has access to the facilities they need. The benefits of this go beyond just playing rugby; the increased access to the facilities will help encourage a more active lifestyle and provide a safe and social environment for people of all ages.
The children in the community will particularly benefit from the pitch lights. They will be able to practice and play in the evenings, providing a valuable opportunity to develop their skills and build confidence. Many children in the area do not have access to after-school activities, so having the lights will provide a safe and fun environment for them to be a part of.
For adults, the installation of pitch training lights means that they can continue to play rugby outside of working hours, providing a valuable outlet for physical exercise and socializing. Rugby has always been a sport that brings people together, and the lights will ensure that it continues to do so, even when daylight is limited.
Finally, the installation of new pitch lights will benefit the community as a whole. The club is an essential part of the local community and having access to the facilities it provides can bring people together and strengthen community bonds. The lights will provide a valuable resource for local schools, clubs, and community groups, ensuring that everyone has access to the benefits of rugby.
We would also like to acknowledge and thank Roly Bateman and everyone else that has supported the club through the years.
We hope that you will also support our fundraising efforts for St. David's Rugby Club. The installation of pitch lights will make a huge difference to the club, the players, and the community. Your donation, no matter how big or small will help us reach our goal and ensure that everyone in the community can enjoy the benefits of rugby. Thank you.
Members Lounge
We have recently completed work on our renovated Members Lounge.
It’s been a huge effort by local craftsman and teams and led by our own Tom and Ken.
We have an updated area with sofa seating, tables, bar, disabled facilities and rugby memorabilia. It’s the perfect place to rest up, recover, relax or watch a match.
Grass Roots
We have an active Minis and Juniors section with age groups starting at Under 8’s (school Year 3)*.
Our aim is for our younger players to have fun and learn life skills while keeping fit playing the demanding team sport of rugby. We want to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for the whole family to spend their time supporting the players on their rugby journey. We promote teamwork, discipline, respect, whilst championing equality, diversity and anti-bulling.
We are always looking for new players and welcome any ages or ability to come and join us
* We do have a number of Under 7’s already at the club and we are looking to formalise this into a separate team. Volunteer coaches always welcome.
We aim to provide a warm and comfortable clubhouse and to provide the best facilities possible. We are also continually looking to improve and reduce our environmental impact.
We are already looking to replace our old and failing flood-lighting, and reduce our electricity usage with LED technology, and we would also strive to leverage renewable energy sources with future projects. These will hopefully include solar sources, given our prime position near the Pembrokeshire coast.
Our Clubhouse continues to be at the heart of the Community.
We currently have a number of groups, classes, functions and events for charities, local groups and families alike. We aim to maximise the use of the Clubhouse and our facilities, opening the door to our local community for bookings.
