U10s vs Llangwm

Welcoming a very good Llangwm side to Tyddewi this Sunday was going to provide a stern test for the Saints.

From the first whistle it was a very fast paced game with end to end rugby and some good battles all over the pitch which made it an exciting contest. Llangwm had the better of the early exchanges, taking advantage of some missed tackles and crossing the line 3 times with no reply from the Saints. The Saints kept plugging away in defence and attack with some rewards showing. Scrum half Iestyn with a number of dashing runs from the back of the rucks well supported by a number of players.

The second half was certainly an improvement for the Saints. Our forwards providing us with good territory gains up the pitch, drawing the Llangwm team in tight before spreading it wide, Joey with 3 speedy tries from our own half to cross the line. Morlo with a fine try of his own, driving his way through the Llangwm defence with what seemed to be half the team hanging onto his back. The Saints then put together some of the best attacking play of the season, with a lovely passing move and great handling skills between Rory, Rafferty and Freddie but sadly Llangwm did just enough to close the door before the whitewash. Even the Llangwm crowd were applauding that effort.

We as coaches have seen some real progress and commitment in training over the last few weeks. If we can improve our defensive game then we are confident the results will turnaround quickly.

Final Score: Saints 28 - 45 Llangwm
