Saints U9’s Festival

Festival Day!!!
3 games today, first was against Tenby was a tentative start on a slippy pitch but they soon got to grips with it!! Some very good play in this game. Big hits from Kian, Zaki, Logan, Bear and Oliver but along with it was speed which Kian used to score the first try for the Saints. Was nice to see players passing today, some wonderful team work between Bear and Oliver down the wing, communication between them was perfect and a lovely pass from Bear to Oliver who managed a few good side steps to make some ground, quick pass out to Zaki who used every fibre of his being to power over for a try!! An impressive start to the festival for both teams final score 3-3
Second game we had the Quinn's a team we always enjoy playing against. This was definitely a test of defence, both teams had good break out runs that were stopped short by defence. Pembroke took and early lead however Kian with his size and pace wasn't letting them have it easy and scored his own try. Pembroke restart and the Saints slow them down tackle by tackle, Henry our very new player in his first full game put his body on the line on multiple occasions to defend the line, Saints got the 6th tackle in and turned it over. Was a brilliant game to watch again, final score 1-2 Quinn's
Final game against Crymych, no break in-between games for the Saints, but march on we did. A few mistakes crept in on this final game, tiredness had a massive part to play however they never gave up, some good run attempts and running passes going well, but Crymych put pressure on at all times which led to some panic passing, knock ons and spilled balls. However I have to say the kids held themselves well with certain things that were said and done, very proud of you!! Final score 0-4 Crymych
Things to work on, line speed, tackle confidence and positioning.
Some really good rugby today, things being said and done at training are starting to stick in there
